Get a Handle on Things with EasyKeys!

First up this week is the CCL Lever Lock Handle. This lock handle is furnished for one, two, or three point locking, right or left hand doors, and with 90 or 180 degrees rotation. The square spindle allows cams to be mounted at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The regularly furnished spindle length is 25/32” and 3-1/2” long, and the mounting hole dimensions are 1 ½” from center to center. A plug removal access hole is on the shank of the handle to allow for removal of plug assembly for rekeying purposes.

Next is the CompX National L-Handle Keyed Cam Lock. This lock handle is made of zinc die-cast and has a chrome plated finish. The mounting hole dimensions are 1 13/16” from center to center with the cam length at 3 inches. With the unlocking radius of 90 degrees, the unlock turn direction is clockwise. This cam lock includes two keys and mounting hardware with the keyway keyed to C415A.

Finally, we have the Tennsco Lock Handle. These are OEM Tennsco lock handles and replace the SC100 – SC899, BP500 – BP999, and CH501 – CH620 series handles. Each comes with a lock handle and a dummy handle (single lock handles with no dummy handle are also available here). The mounting hold dimensions are 1 ½” from center to center and come in a polished chrome finish.

Cam locks are a type of lock that does not require an entire locking mechanism, and work pretty simply.  The lock has a cam - the metal piece that goes inside of the door or drawer - and it will hold the door or drawer shut.  With the key, the lock turns either 90 or 180 degrees, which causes the cam to turn and release the door or drawer. Cam locks can be installed to fit your exact need - either turning the cam right or left, or up and down.  Another option available is the offset cam. An offset cam allows the locks to be used when the drawer or door is not flush.

To find your perfect cam lock, you will need to measure the thickness of the door or drawer, as well as the length from the lock hole to the edge of the molding or furniture.

This CompX cam lock is for drawers, R.H. or L.H. doors with lipped/overlay construction (straight cam) or flush construction (formed cam). For an overlay application, the combined thickness of front and frame cannot exceed the 1 3/4" cylinder length.  The cam turn can be 90 or 180 degrees, and the key is removable in the locked and unlocked position. Includes two keys, trim washer, spur washer (for wood), mounting nut, two cams, and two stop washers. FlexaCam spacers are also supplied.

One lock comes with two keys, five OEM replacement cams, and two different gauge mounting clips. The key rotates counter-clockwise 90 degrees and the key is removable in the locked position only. This lock package has the option of being master keyed with six or more packages.

The ESP Threaded Hex Nut lock comes with two nickel plated keys, five OEM replacement cams, and a mount with a hex nut. The cylinder length is 812, and the face diameter is ⅞”. The key rotates counter-clockwise 90 degrees, and the key is only removable in the locked position. This lock is ideal for high security applications with oversized door thickness.



CompX National Pin Tumbler Mailbox Lock

C9100 / C9200

The CompX National Pin Tumbler Mailbox Lock is for exterior pedestal-mounted neighborhood boxes. This lock includes a keyway dust shutter for lock protection, and is clip mounted. The C9100 and C9200 are the only mailbox locks approved by the USPS for 4C (CBU) mailboxes. The C9100 operates clockwise, while the C9200 operates counter clockwise. The key is removable in locked position only. This lock is only available keyed differently and includes a spring clip, mounting nut, and three keys.

Thumb Turn Locks

It’s as easy as snapping your fingers!

If you can snap your fingers, you can turn a thumb turn lock. What is a thumb turn lock? Thumb turn locks are an oval or circular shaped lock that operates by turning the grip. Thumb turn locks do not require a key to lock and unlock. EasyKeys.com carries multiple thumb turn lock sets for non-secure applications such as panel doors, storage cabinet doors, RV storage boxes, and more. The thumb turn locks are versatile and can be applied accordingly to provide a clockwise or counterclockwise application. How to install a thumb turn lock? It’s easy! Installing a thumb turn lock is the same as installing a regular cam lock. Locate the position of the lock on the door or drawer, and if there is no existing hole, drill one for the thumb turn lock. Insert the thumb turn lock into the hole and align the lock as desired. From the inside, place the washer and hex nut onto the lock and tighten while holding the lock secure on the outside. A spur washer is included for wood installation. ESP Lock offers multiple size options for thumb turn locks to ensure finding the perfect fit for your needs. Three depths are available: 5/8”, 7/8”, and 1-1/8”. Push Button Locks for Doors and Cabinets

Push button locks and plunger locks are used for cabinets, showcases, office furniture, and sliding door applications. This type of lock locks by pushing the lock cylinder into the mechanism, and then is unlocked by the corresponding key.

Everything You Need to Know About Electronic Locks for Office Furniture

Although we’re obviously pro-key, we understand it can be a hassle to be responsible for them. Lost, stolen, and forgotten keys are no longer a problem with electronic keyless locks. Electronic locks are also a solution for employee turnover, or a lock requiring multiple users - just provide the code and no keys are required! EasyKeys offers a variety of electronic locks for cabinets, desks, lockers, and cubicles. Electronic keypad locks can be controlled by the keypad, key fobs, Bluetooth, NFC or ProxCards depending on the option selected. EasyKeys carries the brand MicroIQ, which has several locking mechanisms available that will allow you to replace most locks. MicroIQ retrofits and replaces the lock cores of multiple furniture and lock manufacturers (Hon, Haworth, Kimball, Knoll, and Steelcase to name a few!). Just remove the current lock core and insert the MicroIQ electronic lock. Depending on your specific needs, MicroIQ has an option for you. There are two available modes – station and locker mode.

The station mode refers to an office environment or workstation where there is typically one user of the lock. The lock is used repeatedly by the same user with one keypad code and / or one key fob. A key fob can be programed to as many locks as desired which enables the users to have one key fob for multiple locks. The station mode electronic locks can handle a total of three unique access codes and / or key fobs in order to provide security management.

The locker mode refers to a space such as a school, club, or hotel where temporary codes are necessary. These locations require multiple users with temporary but individual codes to provide access to a locker or storage unit.

Station or locker mode must be specified at the time of order. Providing even more versatility, the MicroIQ locks can be switched between the two modes.

How to Rekey a Lock

How to Find a Key Code on a Lock

Magnifying Card Lights are one of EasyKeys handiest products and with good reason! The magnifying glass with a light is small enough to carry with you, but has large benefits. Extremely convenient, this magnifying light is around the size of a credit card and can be taken anywhere in a pocket or a purse.

Lock codes are small, and can be difficult to read. Add the fact that some locks are located under desks and the codes might as well be invisible! If you are still having issues viewing the code, dab White Out over the lock code and wipe off the excess. The lock code will remain white, making it easier to identify. Then grab your EasyKeys magnifying card light to see the code clearly!

How to Replace File Cabinet Locks

An important addition to office furniture, file cabinet locks are an easy and economical option to keep everything from files to personal items safe.

Before getting ahead of ourselves, if there is currently a lock and mechanism in the furniture, a new file cabinet lock may not be required. Just enter the lock code (found on the face of the lock core) and the manufacturer on www.easykeys.com to purchase a replacement key. If you would prefer to change the lock core to use a different lock code (key), you can switch the lock core to another code within the same series. A change key, new lock core, and a new key would be required for this option.

Now, on to the file cabinet locks! If the existing lock is damaged, or if there is not a current lock, a new filing cabinet lock replacement is for you! Finding the correct lock kit for your item doesn’t have to be difficult. It’s easy to select your lock as long as you know the manufacturer and have the previous lock measurements. Viking padlocks were made to secure tribesmen’s paddocks, which could be where the name “padlock” originated. Another type of popular padlock was dubbed the “smokehouse padlock.” Smokehouses became frequently used in England to preserve food. In order to prevent theft from animals and humans alike, the padlock later called the smokehouse padlock was created. This type of padlock used a key, but was not up to security standards of today since it could be picked without leaving any evidence. A new type of padlock called the “cast heart padlock” was created in Scandinavia. These locks were made from bronze or brass which made them strong and weather resistant. Because of that and the ability to mass produce, the cast heart padlock grew in popularity.
